Weekly Update

This past week all three levels for the Bears Baseball Program were in action both inside and outside the city.  Each level picked up wins along the way, with the JV team really gained some momentum as they picked up four wins this week going 4-1.

The Varsity hosted another district match-up on Tuesday as Iroquois visited Milan Perpich Field.  The Bears picked up the win Tuesday but dropped the opening game of the L.I.T. at Milan Perpich Field to Shelby Co. on Thursday.  Closing out the week the Varsity Bears rebounded getting the victory over LaRue Co. Friday night before weather moved in washing out Saturdays games.  The Bears are 14-7 on the season and have another big week coming up with a pivotal district match-up with DeSales Tuesday and welcoming cross-town rival Male and Bullitt East later in the week.  The Varsity will also travel to Valley on Thursday.  Fans don't forget Senior Night is Wed. May 3rd with the game at 6:00 p.m. and ceremony at 5:45 p.m.

This week was all about gaining momentum for the JV Bears as they were able to pick-up four wins, including a clean sweep in the Future Stars JV Tournament at Lafayette HS.  The Bears started off with a win against New Albany Monday before dropping a disappointing game to North Bullitt on Wed.  They rebounded well though defeating Lafayette, Boyd Co. and Dunbar on the weekend.  The JV team is now 11-9-1 on the season and will be back in action later this week hosting Male and Bullitt East.

The Freshman Bears were more of the same back and forth this week.  They dropped a disappointing game against North Oldham but bounced back closing the week off with a win over Fairdale.  This very young group continues to improve and learn from their mistakes.  The Freshman Bears will be back in action later this week at North Oldham and hosting Male and Bullitt East.

There is more great action coming up this week at Milan Perpich Field!  We look forward to seeing all those families Wednesday at our Senior Night and the rest of the week at the ball park!

Weekly Update

Last week ended on a soggy note for everyone.  All games over the weekend for all levels were rained out.  This week the Bears hope to keep trending in a positive way just as all parties hope the weather does the same.

The Varsity Bears were only able to get two games in last week due to the weather.  They were able to pick up wins in both of those contest as they notched another district win over Western and traveled to Manual getting a 3-2 win across town.  This week the Varsity has four games scheduled all here at Milan Perpich Field.  Starting on Thursday they will play host, along with several other schools around town, to the L.I.T.  Butler will welcome Sayre, Larue Co, Shelby Co., and Ryle to the friendly confines of Milan Perpich Field.  Full Schedule for the weekend is listed below, highlighted by Alumni Night at the Ball Park Friday evening.  Any alumni interested in attending please contact one of the coaches to register and be added to the pass list for Friday night.

Weekly Update

The Baseball Bears have had a lot of action since the last update with all teams experiencing the ups and downs as we approach the midway point of the season.

The Varsity Bears were in action 4 times this past week along with a tournament over spring break at CAL.  This past week the Varsity went 3-1 with victories over Doss, Collins, and Waggener, while surrendering a defeat to Ballard at home on Friday night.  Over spring break the Varsity went 2-1 getting key wins against Marshal Co and Breckinridge Co but getting swept in the season series against Meade Co.  Going into this week the Varsity Bears stand at 10-6 on the season and will be back in action tomorrow night as they host district foe Western.

During the past two weeks the JV Bears have definitely been on a roller coaster.  After experiencing some highs and lows over spring break, they started to put some consistent play together moving into last week.  However, more ups and downs showed their heads again this weekend.  Going into this week the JV Bears are 6-7-1 on the season and will be back in action Wed. as they host Manual.

As for the Freshman Bears, after getting off to a slow start to the season, this young group has started to figure some things out.  They have picked up key wins over DeSales, Dunbar, and Collins.  Moving into this week the Freshman have some momentum and are looking forward to hosting Manual on Wednesday.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the ballpark this week!  Milan Perpich Field will host several key games this week including a Varsity District game Tuesday and highlighted with our rival PRP coming over this Saturday for a JV/F DH starting at 11:00 a.m.
